Bust of Nefertiti
About the exhibit
This bust of the Egyptian queen Nefertiti was printed with a 3D printing technology called PolyJet, which allows the use of various materials in the same print.
Nefertiti was the wife of the Pharaoh Akhenaten of the 18th dynasty of Egyptian kings.
She is the most famous Egyptian queen after Cleopatra, and serves as a model of female beauty to this day.
The original statue was discovered in Egypt, but was taken to a museum in Berlin for display.
Egypt's requests to return the statue were refused, leading social activists to copy the intellectual property by pirate scanning the original statue and distributing copies around the world.
Stratasys made one of the copies, which develops and manufactures 3D printers.
