FAQ

Access to the museum's building and exhibitions is subject to the possession of a valid admission ticket. A ticket provides a single admission to all exhibition venues and activities unless otherwise specified.  All ticket prices are specified in our Buy Tickets page

 

Children under five years of age enjoy free admission. Please note: to guarantee entry, visits must be booked in advance for visitors of all ages. To book tickets for children under five, click on the "Child under 5" option.

 

All visits to the museum must be booked in advance via our online reservation system “Buy Tickets”. Please click the “Unions and Loyalty Programs” on the top of the page, choose the relevant option, and proceed to book your visit. Please note: booking a visit does not validate your ticket! To validate your ticket, please go to the museum’s ticket counter and present your validation code, ID number, or any other validation code relevant to your loyalty program. Admission is not possible without a validation code, even if you have booked your visit in advance.

A Family Ticket can be used for a family of up to 10, and covers two adults (parents or grandparents) and children aged 5-18 (children or grandchildren).

 

Tour guides enjoy free entry to the museum on presentation of a valid certificate. Visits must be booked in advance via the “Book your visit – not including loyalty programs” page.

 

Absolutely. We offer an annual membership plan, with prices varying according to the number of members in the program. If you become a member within two weeks of your last visit, we will refund your visit in full. Please note: this refund is not available for visitors purchasing their membership through loyalty programs.

Getting to the Bloomfield Science Museum by public transportation

 Bus 35: From Mt. Herzl, Malha Mall, and Malha Train Station. The bus stops at the entrance to the museum.

Bus 14: From Jerusalem Central Bus Station to Malha Mall.  The bus stops at the entrance to the museum.

Bus 7: From Kibbutz Ramat Rachel through the city center. The bus stops at the entrance to the museum.

Bus 9: From Romema to Givat Mordechai, through Mordehai A'Liash Street (between Agripas St. and Ben Yehuda St.) and Rehavia. The bus stops at the entrance to the museum.

Bus 66: From Pisgat Ze'ev, through Damascus Gate (Old City), Musrara, Machane Yehuda Market, and the Central Bus Station. The bus stops at the entrance to the museum.

Bus 68: From Har HaTzofim (Mount Scopus), through Ramat Eshkol and the Central Bus Station. The Joint/ Balfour St. stop is a 5-minute walk from the museum.

Bus 100: Direct from Tel Aviv, from Shapirim Parking direct to Kiryat HaMemshala (Governmental Campus) in Jerusalem. Bus-only lanes allow for a relatively faster travel time from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Getting to the Bloomfield Science Museum by train:

The closest train station is Malha. Take Bus 14 or Bus 66 to the museum.

Free parking is available in the museum’s parking lot, including accessible parking spaces, but parking spaces are scarce.

Paid parking is available in blue and white areas in the streets near the museum (Museum Boulevard and Derech Ruppin).

You may park in the Cosell Center parking lot across from the museum (parking spaces are scarce).

On weekends only (Friday and Saturday), you may park in the parking lot adjacent to the Dor Alon-Givat Ram Gas Station (Joint Square).

Thursday 3:00 pm to Saturday 5:00 pm: you may park in the parking lot at the entrance of the Givat Ram Campus.

 

Sunday: closed

Monday – Thursday: 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Apply what we call the "grocery shopping rule": if your child enjoys going grocery shopping with you, he or she will also find our museum interesting and enjoyable. Children under five years of age enjoy free admission.

 

Yes. All visits to the museum must be booked via our Online Reservation System “Buy Tickets”. Members must book their visit via their Personal Area.

Yes. The museum's cafeteria serves hot and cold drinks, snacks, ice cream and light meals. Please note: food and drink are not allowed inside the museum.

We recommend that you allow two-three hours for a full experience, but some visitors spend an entire day at the museum.

Yes. Lockers are provided free of charge (a 5 NIS deposit is required).

Children aged 16 and older may visit the museum without an adult. All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

During your visit, our tour guides will be happy to answer every question you may have. Groups are welcome to book a guided group visit. To book a guided group visit, please contact our Program Coordinator, Miri Ohana, at miri@mada.org.il

The Bloomfield Science Museum in Jerusalem is committed to promoting full accessibility to all its facilities and spaces for visitors with disabilities.

Below is a description of our accessibility options.

Building and parking accessibility

The museum is located on Sderot HaMuze'onim 3 (3 Museum Boulevard), Jerusalem. The main entrance is accessible through an access ramp. It can also be reached from the bus stop and the stairs leading from the parking lot.

An additional accessible entrance is located near the far end of the parking lot. Please call the number on the door upon your arrival.

The parking lot has two accessible parking spaces, as well as two van-accessible parking spaces near the main entrance for safe pickup and drop-off.

Once inside the museum, all spaces and facilities are fully accessible. 

Restrooms

Restrooms are located in every wing of the museum, and include accessible toilet stalls.

Elevators

The museum’s two elevators provide access to every space and floor, including our administrative offices and the museum’s workshop.

Accessible Service

The museum offers discounted tickets to disabled persons with a disability card.

The main ticket counter is lowered and accessible, and equipped with an assistive listening system. 

The Information Desk in the lobby is accessible and staff is trained to cater to the special needs of our visitors. Our tour guides are happy to assist visitors requiring assistance.

Seating arrangements allow visitors to pause and rest in different areas of the museum, including exhibition spaces.

The main ticket counter has wheelchairs that visitors can borrow free of charge.

Service dogs are allowed into the museum.

The museum has three diaper changing stations: in the restroom at the children’s wing, in the women’s restroom at the lobby, and adjacent to the restroom in Wing B.

Nursing room: A dedicated breastfeeding room is located in Wing B, 1st floor. Access through the blue elevator. 

Accessibility for visitors who are blind or visually impaired

Voice-guided systems: an information and orientation STEP-HEAR system is installed throughout the museum to help guide visually impaired visitors. The system enables visitors to tour the museum independently by installing the STEP-HEAR app on their phone. All museum exhibits are hands-on and interactive.

Accessibility for visitors who are deaf or hard of hearing

The main ticket counter is fitted with an assistive listening system for visitors with hearing loss. An assistive listening system is also installed in the auditorium.

Visitors may borrow assistive listening devices on guided tours. Advanced notice is required.

Sign language interpretation is available on Thursdays (not including holidays), 4 p.m to 6 p.m, including guided tours for every activity offered by the museum during these hours (tours/demos/workshops). Please book this activity at least 14 days in advance with our Accessibility Coordinator Shir Peri by e-mail at shirp@mada.org.il

Mobility

The main ticket counter is lowered and accessible.

From the main entrance, all museum exhibitions areas and facilities are accessible.

 Accessibility for visitors with cognitive disabilities

The museum offers tablets with written, easy-to-read explanations about chosen exhibits in every exhibition. Please ask our tour guides for a tablet.

Adapted guided tours in simple language are provided on Tuesdays (not including holidays), 4 p.m to 6 p.m, for every activity offered by the museum during these hours (tours/demos/workshops). Please book this activity at least 14 days in advance with our Accessibility Coordinator Shir Peri by e-mail at shirp@mada.org.il

Our Accessibility Coordinator is certified by Access Israel.

All museum guide tours and staff have been trained to cater to visitors with special needs.

 Quiet Time

The museum has a designated “quiet time” for families of children with special needs, so that every visitor can enjoy a supportive museum experience adapted to their needs.

The museum has three diaper changing stations, an accessible restroom for children, and a family restroom. There is also a dedicated breastfeeding room, and all elevators and hallways are accessible for prams/baby carriages (including twin carriages).

The Bloomfield Science Museum in Jerusalem is an informal educational institution. The museum exhibits science as an integral part of modern life and culture, linking it to everyday phenomena through exhibitions on a variety of subjects, interactive exhibits, and a wide range of educational activities.

In our museum, we encourage our visitors to explore the exhibits through sight AND touch. We believe in the power of thinking with your hands. Our exhibits are complemented by a wide range of activities that aim to inspire and expand upon the visitors’ understanding of them.

Most of our exhibits are produced in our workshop, while others are sent to us on loan from other science museums around the world.
